How about accompanied driving?

Introduced in Luxembourg on July 1, 1995, it enables learner-drivers to improve their training by driving in the company of a private individual, thus developing their sense of responsibility

Conditions :
  • Be 17 years of age, i.e. 6 months earlier than a candidate in the convention
  • To have successfully completed the theoretical part of the driving test.
  • Have taken 12 hours with a driving school.
What kind of vehicle ?
  • Category B and covered by insurance (issued free of charge).
  • The vehicle must have a special sign on the back (20-13cm) with the letter L in white on a red background.

Conditions to be a supervisor ?
  • Adult with a B driving licence obtained at least 6 years ago (no family relationship required).
  • Proof of no previous convictions for driving offences.
  • Must not have been prohibited from driving in the previous 5 years.
  • Have attended two driving lessons with the instructor.
  • Please note that legally, only the accompanying person is considered a driver.
  • Must be seated at the front.

Good to know :
  • Accompanied driving is prohibited between 23.00 and 06.00 hours.
  • The accompanying person must not have an alcohol level of 0.2g or more per liter of blood.
  • There is no age limit for accompanied driving.
  • It is also an interesting learning tool for people who decide to take their driving test late.
